All pens are not created equal. Nor are writing and/ or drawing and creative surfaces for that matter. I had not realized how spoiled I was using Micron pens almost exclusively the past few months until they all began to run dry at the same time.  I then picked up a pack of Prismacolor pens that included a brush tip and a calligraphy tip in the set.  I have several friends who are as partial to Prismas as I am to Microns but there is a difference.

Then my Prismas also went dry. Recovering from holiday spending left me lacking funds so I got desperate enough in looking for creative options to *gasp pick up a simple sketching pencil!  This owl was done in pencil and overall I am pleased with the way he turned out....

I then decided to try an eagle also using pencil.  I'm not as thrilled with the eagle as I am the owl. It may be that I am simply drawn to owls more as they, like myself are nocturnal by nature!

I also tried several brands of ball point pens for drawing options and am not thrilled with the results thus far but of course there are many different pen options and I've barely scratched the surface. The search continues to find 'the BEST' pen/pencil/combination for artistic purposes. Then again I am also still exploring surface options and as we all know different surfaces require different  mediums. 
The good part of this period of exploration is that I am spending more time working on my creative doodling options.

Well - This challenge is a bit different on several fronts! First - the challenge was to do this Zendala in pencil! When I went to print out the template, I found I was out of ink! Grrr.... Well, where there's a will-there's a way! Right?

So I ended up holding a paper to my monitor with one hand and tracing the template with the other...lines were a bit shaky but they are after all guidelines. I used a soft drawing pencil which may not have been the best option as I really had a time with unintentional smudges as I worked my way around the Zendala.

Some of those smudges did add some automatic shading while I added shading to some smudged areas in an attempt to even things out without erasing.

Not my favorite template or treatment of it. However, I just couldn't resist the dare!

So here is the final results!

Well...It is about time that I am able to make this entry! I had full intentions to posting with the first 100 for today's desk visit but my blog host was not cooperating!

So there's the usual mess...LOL. I told you my neat desk photo was not typical! But I was able to uncover a couple of the latest projects. The little gift box  propped next to my cup is waiting to be finished. It got shoved to the side when my NEW PAPERS came in...of course I had to give these circular papers from Paper Source a try!

These circular papers are perfect for mandalas and zendalas!!! They were available 'in limited supply'...I sure hope they means they will be reordering a new supply because I am loving how they work with the Micron pens!

After posting this page from my doodle journal...I got a request for a set of four-8x10 inch ink artwork with a Native American feel to it to go in a friend's new house. So I am excited about getting started! Have a blessed and crafty day friends!

I happened upon this fantastic Blog a few weeks ago and immediately got hooked on the Zendala templates and challenges. It has taken me until now to officially jump in although you will see other examples of Zendalas done using templates from The Bright Owl site in my Doodle Gallery! Thanks Erin you can be sure I'm a regular visitor even if I don't get a chance to post often! I think the first visit to your blog was at the Zendala Dare #50. I have tons of catching up to do!

So here is my first official venture into  Challenge #55.
I found these great circular papers at the Paper Source and ordered several packs since they had a not that they were in limited supply! Hopefully they will have a new supply in when these run out because I love working on them. This was done with a Micron 01 and shaded with pencil. I need to work on both shading and line work but all in all am happy with this one!

D= DayLee Doodles....LOL. One of the creations that are on my desk at the moment! 

Several visitors took not of my small deskspace and asked for a look at the area around my desk. To the left I have an equally small bookshelf that was recently tidied up to make room for current items I need at hand without the avalanche that followed prior to the clean out! The box on the bottom shelf...doodle supplies and completed cards...the yellow box, a sewing kit for daughter's and granddaughter's emergency repairs... The snowman peeking from the mirror on the wall was made by my (then 5- year old) granddaughter, Jaden. That is a picture of her and her cousin on the wall to the right of my computer screen.

This is the newest Mandella or Zendella design done this morning and possibly a future card design and/ or framed print.
Oh that obviously is the trash can between the printer and desk to the right, and the boxes behind the printer hold scrapbook materials and a Cricut machine.
Not seen is the over-sized pillow with worn blue blankie where my mini doxie hangs out!

So there you have it! My 2nd contribution to WOYWW ....Had fun visiting desks last week and look forward to doing so later tonight, but now have to scramble to make it to my granddaughter's cheerleading 'camp'....ttfn!

Hooray! Welcome to the very first TAG You're it Thursday Challenge!
A dark dreary rainy day in Georgia prompted me to think outside the usual Zendella tiles, mandellas circles and stardard doodle pads to get creative with some craft tags that I had hanging around.

 The tags I used were scrapbook tags measuring about 2 and a half by 4 and a half
inches. You can use premade tags or make your own .... who is ready for a
challenge? TAG YOU ARE IT!

Here's mine to give you an iea...feel free to make your tags larger or smaller, decorative only or specific to an occassion let's see what your creative muses come up with!!!

While looking at some new (to me) creative websites/ blogs, I happened upon this entry at Stamping Ground asking "What's on Your Workdesk"? ...WOYWW=What's on your workdesk-Wednesdays. So I followed the urge and snapped this shot.

An eye opener for those crafting buddies of mine who are under the illusion that
I am sooo organized! NOT True! This is my reality! 

Today I've been doodling and surfing the web looking for new inspiration and ideas and somewhere along the line the stray  thought interrupted that I need to sort coupons so they too are under there somewhere...

A friend sent the blank page little house notebook she made and I've decided to fill it with doodle notes and send it back to her!

Shhhh don't tell, if she reads this entry-she can figure it out on her own!

While I enjoy dabbling and doodling small designs such as this one here to your left, I just found some awesome work by artist Judith Braun that blows me away!!!!

Love it!

Doodle Art takes all forms.  The great part is there is no right or wrong when you approach doodling with a 'go with the flow' mindset. Don't like how a line of pattern looks? Turn it into solid black negative space and doodle around it!
Another possibility is to simply leave it and see how it works into the final piece.

While the simple doodles I create are usually black and white pen scratchings, I've been playing around with color options and a bit of color added to the completed design changes the feel of a doodle and sets a new mood as it were.

Here a touch of red ink is added once the design was completed. I was only mildly happy with the black and white version but like it better with the touch of red.

 For me doodling is simply about letting go and waiting to see
what is created once I reach the end of whatever type of session might be
  happening. Though I do at times sit down to sketch or draw a particular
  object or item.

Most often, the thought of sketching causes my creative muse to  hide in a corner all bashful and shy. Like a preschooler called on to say her  name in front of the class, instead she ducks and remains  uncooperative. I can easily coax her out by calling her to come out and play.
 
No  pressure trying to sketch a realistic or identifiable picture of any  type...let’s just doodle! Squiggle and scribble on this blank piece of paper  with a crisp black pen and see what  happens!

The circles above were done one morning over coffee before I  really was awake enough to plan much -but then the squiggles that started out  in the middle of this blank card didn't seem like much of a start
either....

Oh, Oh ...The creation below obviously needed more coffee!

 The whole piece has a muddled angry feel to it and honestly seems
to reflect how I feel after a less than restful
night....

The only thing worse than a sleepless night is having my morning
routine of a solitary cup of coffee in peace and quiet interrupted as it was on
this particular morning....

I think a bit of the crankiness I felt made its way into this doodle ...
